More than ever, cultural heritage has become an important resource for science and education. All of which is leading to intense object utilization and increased hazards to collections.
The preservation of cultural heritage is the core of Co.Co Heritage’s work. It is aligned to balance current conservation standards, collections requirements and museums expectations.

Collections Management
As an integral part of preventive conservation, collections condition assessment aims to improve object and collections state of preservation. Evauation of collections are performed on-site, and are always complemented by records of environmental parameters, as well as procedure improvements. Finally, in-house education completes assessments in order to develop individually fitted, and independent preventive strategies.
Disaster Preparedness
The past fifteen years have seen numerous catastrophic incidents occurring to museums, archives or libraries due to geo-climatic phenomena, or technical and anthropogenic deficiencies. All of which led to severe damage on objects and loss of collections. According to international guidelines cultural heritage institutions need to elaborate disaster preparedness concepts, including information on evacuation, salvation and first-aid treatments.
Risk Assessment
While collections assessment deals with common hazards, and disaster preparedness focusses on extraordinary situations, risk assessment provides a comprehensive understanding of institutions settings, policies, and the state of collection preservation. Risk assessment aims to evaluate situations with regard to the future outcome of present risks, resulting in quantified preventive measures and determined actions for risk mitigation and control.
